RMP 440SE fails to initialize after fully charging batteries

Post by QSDRice »

I'm having a reproducible problem with the RMP 400 SE platform.

After charging the batteries for several hours, until they are completely full (as indicated by the charge status LEDs blinking green), flipping the power ON will result in an orange status LED, followed by a red quickly blinking LED, followed by the system shutting down. I can repeat this series multiple times with no change in outcome.

The e-stop / kill switch is NOT activated. I've visually inspected each connector and was unable to see any damage.

This problem will stop happening after several hours of inactivity, after which the system will start up as expected. From that point on, restarting the system will be successful (until we fully charge the batteries again and the problem reoccurs).

Just a quick update - we performed the firmware update to the August firmware. Today, after leaving the RMP charging, 4/5 charging LEDs are blinking green (Aux, Front-1, Rear-1, Rear-2). Front-2 LED is OFF. Should the Front2 LED be blinking as well?

As the batteries get closer and closer to 100% full, they blink less and less frequently. It may be that the Front 2 LED is blinking only once every few minutes.

If there is an error with the battery, the LED will blink red.
If the battery is not detected (or is missing), the LED will be solid red.

Hope this helps,
Greg

Thanks for the info - I didn't stick around long enough to see if it was blinking that slowly.

Most recently, I swapped the Front-1 and Front-2 batteries. After plugging in the charging station, all 5 LEDs are blinking green at about the same rate.

I then disconnected the charger and powered on the RMP and experienced the same initialization failure as in the opening post.
