Powering peripherals from the RMP powerbase batteries

Post by Segway »

Q: I am powering 2 cameras and a couple PTU units mounted on an RMP. I was wondering if there is any way to draw power from the batteries that is mounted in the RMP powerbase.

A: Tapping into the powerbase batteries is difficult if not impossible due to the “smarts” built into their PCBs and it is dangerous due to the voltage. We strongly recommend that you do NOT try it. Instead, to provide auxiliary power we offer a “payload power” option that adds a supplementary battery, dedicated to powering peripherals. The spec sheet for each RMP model describes this option in more detail, as the configuration differs slightly depending on the base RMP.
