Magnetic field/gauss generation?

Does we have numbers, even ballpark, of how many gausses (if that's the right measure) the platform generates? Under heavy load versus resting? Measured as close to the motors as possible, or perhaps a foot or two away? We're trying to get a feel of how it will affect a compass, and a gyro vendor is...

Re: Single PowerOff mode request ignored, multiple obeyed

Thanks! This looks like exactly what our problem was. Putting a sleep before and after seems to fix the issue.

Re: Single PowerOff mode request ignored, multiple obeyed

Thanks for looking into this, Patrick. We've sent drive commands between 10 and 40 hz, but never closer to 100 hz. Do I understand correctly that only one command every 10 ms is accepted? Would another command within that 10 ms window be buffered or discarded? We're sending the mode switch command a...

Single PowerOff mode request ignored, multiple obeyed

While implementing the new operational modes (in this case PowerOff mode), I stumbled across a potential issue. I'm currently sending a steady flow of 0 drive commands to the platform, and inserting a single PowerOff mode request into the stream. This command seems to be ignored. (e.g. drive drive d...

Re: Fault descriptions

Perfect, Patrick, that's exactly what we needed to know. Thanks to you and Greg for looking into this! I have another potential issue, but I'll start a new thread.

Re: Fault descriptions

Thanks for checking into this, Greg. Our previous firmware didn't work either, which is why I tried upgrading to the newest pre-release firmware.

Re: Fault descriptions

Sorry about the missing attachment, I pretend like I know how to computer, but sometimes my facade cracks. I updated the firmware to 1232/1277, re-ran the scenario, and properly attached the faultlog this time. A little more explanation about the faultlog in the zipfile (there's just one now). I sta...

Re: Fault descriptions

Thanks for the information. The most troubling fault is probably COMM_FAULT_UIP_BAD_CHECKSUM. If I could get a confirmation that attempting to flash the firmware again is probably the best solution, I'll try that. Our Segway works, with the only quirk being that power-following-USB doesn't seem to w...

Brake firmware

1. Is it a problem to install firmware containing the new bi-stable brake system on a platform that doesn't have brakes? 2. If one of the new BBS operational states is commanded on a platform that doesn't have the proper firmware, what will occur? I'm assuming a COMM_FAULT_UI_UNKOWN_CMD? (BTW, typo ...

Fault descriptions

Is there a list of fault descriptions somewhere? Or is it expected that we'll simply post the fault logs on the forums here for interpretation? Our 440 has been having an issue where the power-follows-USB doesn't work. If a powered USB line is plugged into the platform while the power switch is in t...

Re: 440 new firmware issue

Craig and Patrick, thanks for the responses. I think our problems are solved. A little post-mortem: 1. Craig, you're correct about the USB cable. For my desktop, I was using an extender cable. For the laptop, I was plugging in directly. Apparently the extender cable doesn't prevent the robot from op...

440 new firmware issue

We recently received an RMP X440 high-clearance vehicle with the new firmware installed (1224 processor build ID, 1274 UI processor build ID). When the robot is powered on, after a variable number of seconds (0:37, 0:26, and 3:37 in three successive timed runs), the robot will have a seizure (tires ...
